Reproductions for Personal Use

To order reproductions of photographs for private research, study, or personal use as stated in the "Fair Use" section of the 1976 Copyright Act, please fill out and sign the following two forms and return them to the address listed on the forms.

Reproductions for Commercial and Non-Profit Use

Written permission from the Amarillo Public Library is required to use its images for any purpose other than private research, study, or personal use as stated in the "Fair Use" section of the 1976 Copyright Act. To obtain permission to use images it is necessary to fill out the following form.

Commercial and Non-Profit Use Request Form

Commercial and non-profit use includes, but it not limited to, publication in books, periodicals, film, videos or CDs, production of posters, postcards, brochures, and public display in buildings or offices open to the public.

Commercial usage fees may also be charged and will vary depending on the intended use. The fees collected will be used for preservation and expansion of the collection. The following document lists the current fees.

Commercial Usage Fees

Usage fees are generally waived for the following types of organizations and entities, or for the following types of uses:

• Organizations with proof of federal non-profit status
• Organizations engaged in non-commercial educational purposes
• Local news media using photos for television newscasts or newspaper articles
• National, state, and local government agencies
• Organizations and individuals doing pro bono work for government agencies

but written permission is still required. Once written permission has been received from the library, fill out and return the form below to the address on the form.
